Inclement Weather Policy

Weather Policy:

In the event of inclement weather or improper riding conditions, an unmounted lesson will occur. In the event of inclement weather on two consecutive lesson days, lessons may be rescheduled at the instructor’s discretion. 

Temperature: Riding Instructor may use some discretion based on sun, clouds, & heat index/windchill.

  • Cold Temperatures:

    • 32-25 degrees: walk & light trot

    • 25-20 degrees: walk only

    • 20-15 degrees: unmounted lesson

    • <15 degrees: lesson cancellation or rescheduled

  • Hot Temperatures:

    •  95< degrees: unmounted lesson

    • 90-95 degrees: walk only

Precipitation: Currently, we do not have an indoor arena… so we are often at the mercy of Tennessee weather. The following applies:

  • Rain: In the event it is raining during your scheduled lesson:

    • Light drizzle/mist: We will still ride if there is no lightning or thunder.

    • Downpour: unmounted lessons.

    • Thunderstorm: unmounted lesson inside or lesson cancellation.

  • Snow: In the event it is snowing during your scheduled lesson:

    • Flurries: We will still ride if road conditions are safe and temperatures are within range as listed above.

    • Snowstorm: Lesson will be rescheduled.

  • Ice/Freezing Rain: Lesson will be canceled or rescheduled.
